Everyone wants to perfect wedding with great friends, great food, and a night full of fun. Since the cutting of the cake is such a visible moment during your reception, you want to be sure to have the right cake for your event.

You should know that bakeries are often overbooked, so you will want to book your cake well in advance. You don’t want to have to proceed with the wedding without the perfect cake! There are many different flavors of cakes and icings for wedding cakes and a great idea would be to choose a flavor that will go along with your theme.

Choosing your cake and icing flavors will be critical to your guests enjoyment of it. No one wants to have a Hawaiian wedding with a vanilla cake. Change things up, and get the advice of your baker, to ensure that you guests have the best cake they’ve ever had. They’ve come all the way to Hawaii and you should reward them with good food and cake.

Cake tastings are usually available if you call in advance. This is a great chance to taste a variety of cakes and icings to better understand what you’re buying for your wedding. Otherwise you may not be happy when your cake isn’t what you expected and it’s already been served to your guests. However, is cake really ever bad?

Another great idea is to go with a non-traditional wedding cake. They’re becoming more and more popular. One great way to do this is to have the bakery use square tiers instead of the traditional round ones. This creates a beautiful and elegant effect. Or, another great idea for cakes is to use alternating tiers of circles and squares. Iced in a beautiful color and surrounded or covered with vividly colored Hawaiian flowers, this cake would be gorgeous.

Other ways to make your cake the centerpiece is to make smaller cakes for each of the tables and everyone can choose their favorite to eat from. You could provide several flavors, styles, colors, etc. and everyone would be talking about it.

A new thing just coming out is the fake wedding cake. Have your heard about this? It’s a completely fake wedding cake for show and then it’s removed to the preparation area to be cut for your guests. The switch happens behind the doors though and all your guests are served with whatever cake you’ve chosen - sheet cake, home-made cake, etc.

If you need something totally unique you can always turned inward and find something about each other that you can share with your guests. Some ideas are cake toppers that have your faces on them, or your favorites sports teams logo as your topper. Anything to bring the two of you together in front of your guests is what your Hawaii wedding reception is all about.
